Established in 1976 by Ronald Barrett, The Bookstore first opened at 337 Broadway in downtown Chico. Bursting at the seams and in dire need of expansion, The Bookstore moved to its current location at 118 Main St. in October of 1992. With a discerning eye, The Bookstore continues to provide a wide selection of subjects including its amazing selection of Children's Books, Cookbooks, History, Gardening, Religion, Art, Rare, Antiquarian, Signed Books and Classic Literature, to name just a few.  We also offer book search services and special orders. Hundreds of titles are added to our stock weekly. The Bookstore has been featured, twice, in Sunset Magazine and named one of "The Top Four Best Used Bookstores in Northern California".
